Brogan O'Doherty
Head Coach
Coach Brogan started playing water polo when he was 10 years old. There was no agegroup water polo being offered close by, so he would commute to Naperville in the evenings to play. At the time, his older sister was in high school playing for Hinsdale Central. Brogan knew that he wanted to follow in her footsteps after watching just one game.
Brogan would go on to play at Hinsdale Central. By the end of his freshmen year, he was playing on the Varsity team. His junior year, he was voted captain and lead the team in scoring. His Senior year, the Hinsdale Central men's water polo team finished 2nd at their Sectional Tournament (The highest the team has ever placed). After high school, Brogan would go on to swim at Eastern Illinois University (Division 1). His Junior year at EIU, he was voted captain and broke the school record for the 200 yard backstroke.
Brogan's water polo coaching career began in 2015. He started Salt Creek Club's water polo team with home-made goals and just a handfull of atheletes. The team has grown in size every summer and now includes 40+ members of all agegroups and ability levels. In the spring of 2020, Brogan became the Assistant Coach for the men's team at Hinsdale Central. Brogan decided that only offering 3 months of water polo wasn't enough. Ever since starting his first team, Brogan dreamed of creating a year-round program to introduce the sport to the next generation of atheletes in the Hinsdale Area. Now, that dream has finally come true.
